TO SHARE INTERNET CONNECTION BETWEEN TWO OR MORE COMPUTERS
Has i have explained in my pervious article as to how to set up wired home network between 2 computers . Now it’s time to for us to move one step forword. Here I’ll tell to how to share one internet connection among other computers in the network.
A. Required components for wired home network.
- 2 computers with NIC card in them i.e., Network adaptor.
- CAT5 unshield twisted pair cables with RJ45 connector.
- internet connection.
- modem–If you have a single computer, connecting to the Internet then you only require modem and cables with internet connection.
- Router (is required if connecting more than 2 computers or devices and you will also require each cables for each computers to connect to the router)
B. Set up the network.
- First plug one end of the cable in to computers NIC card (that you can find at the back of your laptop or the processor) and the other end of the cable to the 2nd computer.
- plug one end of the cable(that you have got with internet connection kit when you bought internet connection from the provider) in to computers other network adaptor and other end of the cable to Modem port that you find at back of the modem.
- if the connection is through your telephone line, connect the other end of your telephone cable in to other modem port.Next, turn on your modem and give it time to connect to the Internet.
If your seting up more than 2 computers then you require Router. In that case,
1. Plug one end of a telephone cable to telephone port, and another end into your modem.
2. Plug one end of a network cable (included with your router) into your modem, and plug the other end of the network cable into the Internet, WAN, or WLAN port on your router.Next, turn on your modem and give it time to connect to the Internet, then turn on your wireless router. After a minute, the Internet/WAN, or WLAN light on your wireless router will light up, indicating it has successfully connected to yourmodem.
3. Plug one end of the cable to each computer and other end of each cable in the router port except Internet, WAN, or WLAN port.
